APVV – IGIHOZO is an association of people living with HIV / AIDS (men and women) and orphans infected and / or affected by HIV / AIDS that was launched in February 2003.
Mrs. Sylvie Muneza is a founder of Igihozo Association and Chairperson of RRP+ was born in 1972 and she is a widow with one child She tested HIV Positive in 1998 and that time she was sick of tuberculosis as HIV co-infection with less than 20 Kg and had a thought of committing suicide due to the stigma that existed in society as there was no ART or Vaccine and auto-stigma was on high level. After 2 years of struggle, in 2000 she started ART and up to now she continues with good adherence to ART, she is healthy with more than 70kg. She is a business woman in normal life. Igihozo Association supports people infected or affected by VIH, especially orphans and widows. Muneza is committed to keeping people living with HIV at the center of the response.
